Monday 8:15am: Go ahead, sound like a broken record
I have a client I'm currently coaching, her name is Lily. She's wonderful....talented, experienced, and fearless. When she says she'll do something, she does it. You should Be Like Lily.
During our call last week she asked about a specific account that she had been calling on. She was asking what her next step was because she didn't want to go back "sounding like a broken record".
I thought about it for a second and told her (only half jokingly)
"Use that.....tell them you don't want to sound like a broken record, but until they refer to you that's all you can do. You're doing it in the best interests of those patients you are trying to care for."
Then I thought for another second and said "Go get a record and break it...bring a piece with you. Show it to them, tell them you'll risk sounding like a broken record because you're doing everything you can to help as many patients as possible"
I then went as far as to tell Lily that I'm going to make her a "broken record" necklace by putting a piece of vinyl on a chain. In fact, I think I'm going to award that "broken record necklace" to all of my great sales reps from this point on!
The moral of this story is....if your message is true, powerful, and in the best interests of everyone concerned, go ahead and sound like a broken record. Spin that sucker until the grooves wear out. If you don't, there are patients out there that won't get referred, and won't be ok.
Make them ok...
