This week is the key week to review the month of December with your key referral sources. Start today and visit each of them this week. What we want is to compare notes on upcoming scheduling, time off, anticipated staffing challenges, etc. This is your opportunity to get in front of the curve when it comes to providing great customer service during a challenging time of year. Your referral sources will have some time off for the holidays....it's imperative you know:
1. How long?
2. Who is your key contact in their absence?
3. What their expected patient and referral volume will be during this time?
4. What their expectations of your agency will be?
Since you will likely have some time off as well, your referral sources should also know the same things about you and your agency. Don't wait....do this today....so you get ahead of the agencies that will ask this question on December 15th (and already be so late as to be ignored).
The other key focus for this week is Sales Priority #2.....you did read last week's Must Do, correct? If so, you would have prioritized 3 weeks worth of selling messages and you are now on Week #2. Make sure you deliver the message, make the referral source think, and ask for referrals in an open ended fashion. If they have them, you should get them. Be better than the holiday caterers whose entire strategy is to work their referral partners into a sugar coma.
